June 2008 Archives

The worst British mid-air collision took place July 4, 1948.

Debris of the York scattered near Mt Vernon and the main fuselage in woodland below Battlers Wells Farm, Harefield.

Debris and bodies from the Swedish plane were strewn in Copse Wood, Ruislip.

The daughter and grandson of one of the crew of the York came to Ruislip on Saturday and with help from Ruislip, Northwood & Eastcote Local Society and Keith Hayward of the Chiltern Aviation Society, found the site of the York's impact and laid wreaths.
